Mr. Nguyen Hai Nam, Director of Ho Chi Minh City Maritime Port Authority, said that the Port Authority has cooperated with Saigon Newport Corporation, Tan Cang Pilot Company and Vietnam Maritime Safety Corporation to bring SITC ships. The port authority will continue testing for ships with larger lengths and draft suitable to pass through this temporary channel, ”Mr. Nguyen Hai Nam said.
In parallel with the urgency of salvage of the ship, the Ministry of Transport has directed the Port Authority and related units to use the funding of the enterprise to conduct emergency dredging and expansion at the location of the sunken ship (Sai channel). Saigon - Vung Tau) to promptly open ships.
The Ministry of Transport has also sent a written request to the Ministry of Finance to allow advance funding for emergency dredging (unexpected) sections of Soai Rap maritime channel for maritime traffic regulation. The ship owner shall be responsible for repaying the advanced amount of dredged funds from the State in accordance with the applicable law.
Vietsun Intergrity shipwreck occurred around 23:30 on October 18, on Long Tau River, Can Gio District, Ho Chi Minh City. At that time, VietSun Integrity cargo ship (Nhat Viet Joint Stock Company) was 132m long and had a tonnage of more than 8,000 tons, transporting about 285 containers from VICT port - Ho Chi Minh City to Hai Phong. The incident did not cause casualties but caused the large number of cargo containers to sink and float on the river.
The sinking of Vietsun Intergrity vessel, which could not flow through the Long Tau River area, has seriously affected the operation of ships entering and leaving the area, incurring costs, photos. affecting the economic development of the maritime industry in particular and the economy and society in general of Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding areas.
Previously, on November 18, the Government Office issued a notice on dealing with the sinking of Vietsun Integrity, whereby Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung assigned the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Finance to consider the recommendations of Hiep. Association of Logistics Service Enterprises in Vietnam and urgently implement the Official Telegraph No. 1400 / CD-TTg dated October 22, 2019 of the Prime Minister, completing the salvage of ships and ensure maritime traffic in time as soon as possible, minimize damage caused by ship sinking incidents.
