PTT GROUP'S MARKET REPORT WEEK 4 JANUARY 2019 - GRAIN MARKET VALUES

Wheat:

Handy and Panama size vessels

Feed wheat: Offers were $213-214 DAP COY port(s), buying is $210-$211.00 for February 19 shipment.

Trade activity is slow. If one adds say $15 on the top of the buying and gets $226 as a fob value, with the freight of approx. $33 for 60000-tonner the calculation brings us to around high 250-s/low 260-s.

In the South Eastern Asia the purchases (Philippines, South Korea) happened at values below $260 and the origins were likely ….out of America!

Australian feed wheat has been sold at $285 to Philippines but with reduction of 7% it comes to $265 level for Black Sea origin...however the transit term is faster and that makes sense for buyers to grab it fast and use it, rather then waiting for couple of weeks of the Black Sea arrival.

Argentina wheat of 12% protein was indicated to East Med at around $280 CNF and that is indeed the high value for those markets but is just the beginning of an “invasion from the Southern Hemisphere”.

There are talks of heavy inventories of imported sunmeal in the South of China ports with importers taking the loss, liquidating of protein at $245-250 FCA.

Indian buyers were asking for sunflower seed pellets for Tamilnadu chicken-feeding….at $247…may be $250 CIF in the end. That worked no offers…lowest indication we have seen was $270 CNF one port range Tuticorin/Chennai...for March shipment.

Indications for pelletized sun meal were at $212-213 FOB Yuzhny vs $210 what was considered as “buyers’ objective”.

Bidding was thin.

Non pelletized sun meal has been indicated at $206 FOB Nikolaiev for Feb shipment.

Moroccan buyers showed $248-249 vs $255 sellers, CIF Casablanca for Feb shipment.

Containers

There were few businesses of sun pellets DAP COY port(s) for further containerizing at $194-196 levels for spot shipment.

There was an indication of non-pelletized sun meal at $207 FCA Constanta for spot shipment.

On the destination front, there was nothing to be brave of: Ukrainian sellers showed $275 CIF HCMC and $278 HaiPhong for Feb shipment.

Indian interest was indicated at $303 Turicorin by one of the suppliers and $288 by another one for Feb and Feb/March high pro pellets. No sign of interest from that place.
